from new style back to old style shift cable

Got an alpha 1 gen 1 and changing the lower shift cable. Shop sent me out an old style cable,My drive has new style cable in it. So my question is can you go back to the old style Or will this be a problem?

send it back, get the updated part, there is a reason merc went with that new style cable..
