I bought a 1999 Evinrude 50-hp 4-stroke but it didn't come with the owner's manual. I'd like to buy a freshwater flushing kit and was hoping that someone could tell me if the port is at the rear of the engine, just below the cowel. It's a silver colored plug or screw. I use the earmuffs but would also like to use the flushing Port.

I bought a 1999 Evinrude 50 HP 4-stroke engine and am trying to find where the freshwater flushing port is located. Sounds like a dumb question, but the only place I believe could be the port is at the rear of the engine just below the engine cover. The port has an aluminum plug that is un-threaded, and solid at the rear, in other words its just like a plug. If this is a plug, how would you go about removing it, with a pair of needle-nose pliers?

If it's a plug like, it's not threaded whatsoever don't remove it. Wait for an adequate answer to your question. Engine should have a visible bolt, nut to screw off and screw in the flushing adapter.

Happy Boating.

Thanks Sea Rider,
Good info. I did get ahold of a local marine repair shop and after checking, the tech told me that there wasn't a freshwater flushing port on my engine. Ok, I have to believe the gentleman being that I can't find one either, oh well, just have to go with the ear muffs I suppose. My engine us a 1999, and I sure thought there was a port.

Flush ports are usually pretty obvious with a cap or an adapter for a garden hose.

You have 3 posts now and can add a picture so we can see what you see.

Welcome aboard, Cdory.
