I am new to Virginia Beach and would like some advice on some good fishing in the south hampton roads area. I would really like to find some good catfish but bass is great also. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thank you, Dan

Plenty of places to fish freshwater and brackish. NW River, Nottoway and Blackwater rivers just to name a few. You also have the lakes in Suffolk and a lot more up around Williamsburg. Some are limited to 9.9 hp motors and some are TM only. The state record cat came out of the James River (98lb blue). Personally I don't like the taste of cats from brackish water but a lot of people eat them. The you have Kerr Lake 2.5 hrs due west which has it all. I quit bass fishing years ago and now just fish for crappie.

I hear Lake Whitehurst has good Walleye. When my boat is up and running next month I'm going there with a friend for some fishing. 10 Hp limit, and if you remove the main motor prop in VA it's counted as no motor.
