Freshwater Cooling conversion Mercruiser 898

Sea is hot out here in Dubai, I would appreciate help on a) Identifying fully the Mercruiser 898 GM V8 5.7LG engine I am rebuilding. It has 14010207 beneath the GM 5.7LG on the rear RHS block. b) What year c) How many Hp? d) Any recommendations on best package to fit full freshwater cooling kit incl. manifolds. Any help greatly appreciated.

Can't help you on the motor ID, HP would depend on how you build it.<br /><br />As for the cooling system, how would you get it there?

If you have an old block,and it was run in salt water, you are wasting your money and time going FWC.

The engine is totally std and has not been used in sea water or rebuilt before. It has EFI ignition, and Heat Exchanger supplier Bowman has asked for HP in order to size exchanger. Parts would be purchased over internet and shipped in, either from USA or Europe, What system would you recommend? We are trying to test run the engine in the workshop but having problems getting EFI to produce sparks!
