Hello,

My BF130 has a Fresh water flush port. Anyone know how often one should use this feature when running in salt water? Every time? at the end of the season?

Is it worth buying the garden hose adapter?

If your boat lives on a trailer, then every single time you take it out of the Salt. Ideally, its best to flush it before the salt water has a chance to dry inside the cooling passages.

If your boat lives in the water full time, its also best to flush it after each use. That way, the cooling channels around the cylinder head wont sit there with the corrosive salt on them when your not using it.

Buy the gardenhose adapter if you like. I prefer to simply run the engine (while on the trailer) using the muffs. This way, the waterpump gets flushed out as well.

Nav

Another question....

Should you limit the water pressure when flushing?

If your boat sits in the water at the dock you will need the garden hose adapter, the owners manual tells you not to run the motor on the adapter and use it after each run, you can use full water pressure and then tilt the motor up out of the water to keep the lower unit out of the corrosive water when you are not using the boat.
