I've been through this with my carberated OMC but a friend of mine couldn't wait for me to change his risers on one of his 2005 Volvo 8.1's. He took the riser off, sprayed fresh water down into the exhaust manifold (obviously not knowing what he was doing) and now it's hydrolocked. After removing the plugs, since it's fuel injected, should I somehow disable the fuel injection or ignition before cranking the water out of it or can I just remove the plugs and crank it? With my OMC I removed the coil wire off the distributor just to be safe. Don't want to blow the thing up. Thanks....

Remove the IGNITION relay from the fuse/relay box.

I am pretty sure it will not start if you have all the spark plugs out of it. It will only take a few spins to get the water out.

It may not start with the plugs out, but damage could be done to the ignition system with the wires not connected to anything, and it also shuts down the fuel injectors.
