Fresh H20 cooling pressure check?

Hello, I'm rebuilding a OMC Cobra 460 1988 closed loop cooling. My question is when I put reassemble motor I would like to pressure check the cooling system before dropping back in boat. I can't find the operating pressure of cooling system. I don't know how much pressure to use when checking for leaks! Don't want to blow out radiator/solder joints etc... Anybody know what pressure I can safely use?

Thanks in advance!

You can safely put 20 psi in it. but 15 is usually good enough for checking. If you blow out solder joints at 20 psi, then they were bad anyway.

Re: Fresh H20 cooling pressure check?

Thank you kindly Don, As it is I have to have the oil cooling tube end cap re-soldered on. It came off when pulling motor. It was ready to go, I can see where it was corroded. glade it didn't happen on the water!

Thanks again,
Paul
