Freeze Plug Popped Out

While getting the boat out of storage last weekend, I noticed my OMC 1982 2.5L GM 4cyl had a freeze plug that popped out. This plug was out a little on one edge over the last year. I assume I didn't get enough antifreeze to the block and it froze. If the water froze and pushed the plug out - does that mean there is still a good chance for internal freeze damage? What are some test I can do to check for damage? How can I repair if only the plug popped out? How can I repair if block is cracked? Keep your fingers crossed.

Re: Freeze Plug Popped Out

I forgot a few years ago and left the block and exhaust manifolds on a 4.3 lt. GM completely full of water. It was a very cold winter in Colorado that winter and come spring both freeze plugs had completely popped out. I used a hammer and block of wood to pound them back in (Spring 1998) boat ran great and still does. Let me know if you are as lucky.
