Can my 1997 Thunderbolt V from a 350 operate the ignition of a base 454? I know the distributors are the same. The Bravo carb 454 uses the same knock sensor but a different module.
I'm just doing a little contemplating here. Haven't bought anything.
I'm also looking into putting a small block stroker together, it's just that the 454 answered the phone already. And it's a good buy.
There's also another 454 an hour away that's already dressed, that boat burned up before it ever launched. That one has exhaust, intake, distributor, brackets and pulleys. The distributor cap is melted, so if the ignition module is on the cap it's probably toast. Gotta see how much I can get it for if it's as described.
What about couplers? The nearby 454 is a fresh rebuilt & balanced 1992 truck motor with "RV2" cam, the 350 is a 1 piece rear seal 1997.
So back to the main concern. I understand a knock sensor is a contact microphone. I wonder if the knock modules hear different frequencies for the two different engines.
If that's the case the 454 would need a different ignition, but I really like the extra efficiency and control of the TB V.
