Hi everyone, I have a 1979 Chrysler 55HP outboard that is fowling plugs when she idles to long. when she is at WOT she runs great and has plenty of power. I'm mixing fuel at 50:1 and both plugs are wet and black in color when it stalls out after idleing to long. If I clean them and let them dry some she will fire back up....any thoughts?

Thanks!!

Re: Fowling plugs at idle

you can try switching oils..amsoil makes a oil you run at 100:1 and prevents fouling of plugs. check out they're website for more info

Re: Fowling plugs at idle

I found out that the plugs that were in the motor were not the right plug to begin with. they were a Champion plug and were about an 1/8 of an inch shorter than the L82C everyone said to use. I actually went with the NKG match up. I put them in and she fired right up. I will test this weekend and let you all know how the idleing goes.

PS where is the idel mixture screw on these carbs?
