fourstroke outboard weight

I have a question about outboard weight. I have a 1991 smokercraft 16vfl 16.42' 69" beam 350lbs. 40hpmax this is a bench seat boat
I have the opportunity to buy a 2009 mercury 25hp fourstroke motor weighs 187lbs.
my question is will this engine be to heavy? If this boat was rated in 1991 at 40hp max what is the weight of a 40hp 2stroke then to a new fourstroke?

i'm interested in the 25 fourstroke because its a great price

The older 40 HP are right around the same weight...... You will have no worries.

While your well within the weight of a 40 hp in 91 keep in mind your adding the weight of a 91 40
with a 25. In 91 a 25 could be a light as 110 lbs.
Typically a small 4 stroke will require careful prop selection and weight placement.to achieve
decent hole shot.I know your probably getting a real deal but give a direct injection 2 stroke
some thought.The 25 and 30 hp Evinrude Etec is 147 lbs no service for 3 years or 300 hours.
fewer less complicated service intervals better holeshot and about 30 mph on a boat like yours.

the 09 mercury 25hp is priced at $2495 it has apox. 20hrs

Performance issues?weight?I wonder what a new 4 stroke sells for?

the dealer selling it sold it new. Guy bout it for an old boat used a few times then bought a new boat package from the dealer. He junked the boat and is selling the motor

I am going to look at an etec 25hp today $3500

Just found a test Alumacraft V16 16'8" 280lbs,Etec 25 tiller, 2 men,6gal fuel,gear and battery.
31.6 mph at 6000. 10.3 X 12" prop
