Four Winns serial number to find out engine size/manufacturer

I'd like to know the engine size/manufacturer for my boat. I know it has a OMC COBRA dog clutch out drive as I am currently having it rebuilt. Need to know the engine type but don't have access to the boat (3 hours away). What I do have are the insurance papers which has the serial number. It's a 1988 20 foot Four Winns Candia. It's a carbed engine and I think it's a Ford 302 but not sure.
Serial # 4WNMG2424888.
I know the first three letters are the manufacturer and I know the last two are the year. Wondered if the other numbers represented the cu in. of motor, etc.

I doubt the engine information is included in the serial number. Remember it's a SERIAL number so you can't have two alike. I'm pretty certain Four Winns made more than one Candia with a 302.

You might be able to get the original specifications and sales literature from Four Winn's web site to see what engines were offered in that boat for 1988.
