Hi There, looking to upgrade from an entry 2004 Bayliner 175xt (which has served me very well) to something larger and nicer.

After looking at SeaRay, Maxum, Glastron, Crownline and Four Winns I have narrowed it down to the 2009 Crownline 19ss and the 2008 Four Winns H200.

What do you guys think? The Crownline is a bit more money, about 10% more.

Thanks!

Re: Four Winns or Crownline?

Some of the basics on the Four Winns seem better.

It has a 19d deadrise compared to 18d. Smoother ride.

It has a 100" beam compared to 92". More stable and less sensitive to weight transfer side to side.

It has a 38g tank compared to 27g. Longer range.

It has a 1400lb capacity compared to 1250lb. More stuff can go along.

I like the look of the Four Winns better also.

Good luck. I think either boat will probably serve you well.

Re: Four Winns or Crownline?

I have a 2005 FW 190 Horizon with a 5.0 litre GXi Volvo. This is the same boat as the current 200 Horizon it was just renamed from 190 to 200 for marketing reasons. I'm happy with the boat generally. It is not a great boat to waterski behind though - the wake is quiet large but I think any larger stern drive will have the saem characteristics - good for wakeboarding though but as you know - not good for surfing behind. Options I had installed are a tower, and what I really like is the Perfect Pass but I had to install it myself which was really quiet easy and allows for accurate speed control necessary for wakeboarding especially. Reliability has been good and I'm happy with the quality. I wouldn't go with an engine any smaller than the 5.0 litre. It generally has lots of power (except when the gas gets old). I put on a Hi5 prop and this makes it grab the water better expecially around corners.
I'm pleased with the fit and finish and quality of the materials.

Four Winns. I don't think think there's much better value in the industry than from Four Winns. When we bought the 2006 180, it had many more features, at a much better price than many other boats in the class.
