So that's probably where my whirring noise is coming from I asked about months ago. Don & others suggested it was probably gimble bearing and I haven't run the boat but briefly since then but will be replacing the gimbal bearing, bellows etc. asap. I had the job quoted at a nearby boat place well known for doing good work but they want $708 ($360 labor) to do the job. I have the most expensive tools required, and as a experienced machinist and mechanic I figure I can do the job just as well and a lot cheaper. Wish me luck anyway.
Any peculiarities about doing this job on a 73 MC 165 I should know about?
