Found field added blue and green wire going to engine...

I have an 1975 Harris 28 ft pontoon and was rewiring the entire dashboard. pulled out two unused insulated quick connect wires. One blue and the other green. The seem to disappear into the taped wiring harness once they enter the engine compartment on the side the main red harness it at. They appear to go towards the front of the motor and they aren't inside the original wiring harness coming from the console.<br /><br />They appear to plug into another similarly (darker) colored insulated socket before they disappear. Any thoughts as to what they are going to and why they were run up to the dash?<br /><br />Thanks... Guvner..

There is no manual here. Did a search on Johnson or Evinrude here but only got small 2 cylinder ones. I have a usually pretty useless Clymers but will look it over. Anyone ever see the two wires I described? Any recommendations on a good brand of a manual?<br /><br />Thanks... Gary

Sounds like Tilt and Trim wires. I'm betting your 88 does not have T&T.<br /><br />BTW- Factory Manual can be had here: Best you can get with lots of specific wiring diagrams<br /><br /> Factory Manual

www.marineengine.com is very reliable and fast for Manuals. I ordered a parts Manual from them a couple of weeks ago and it was here in about 3 or 4 days max. You may want to consider getting this also, so that when you need a part, you have the part number right in front of you to order it. Good service!!

if its the 88spl, they usually did not come with tilt and trim and those two wire are pobably premade into all of omc's wire harnes too save some cash on there part....
