I just found a 1979 18ft. Supersport with the OMC 140 and 400 outdrive.
the shift cable is broke but I was able to manually put it in gear. it shifts good into forward and reverse.

The motor runs but the fuel pump isnt happy.

It is missing the prop.
No seats. the floor and transom are good but allthe seats and carpet are gone.

the guy wants $400 for it.

What prop would work best for the boat?

How much does a shift cable and housing cost for the boat, and where can I find one?

Can't go wrong for $400 you have a very good hull if it is ok. really check if you look at it under the hull. sounds like it was not to well cared for. The prop on my 140 I had was a ( I think ) 14 1/4 by 19 pitch. however the fuel pump is a easy fix and seats are around $200 a set . I would not put carpet IN unless you have kids who ski and such. Be a great buy as you could part it out and the trailer is worth 400 its self. There is a ton of help on this site, as a lot of rebuilding going on all the time.

TD where are you located :D. I will tell you if you dont get that SS for that price one of us will real quick like . I paid $800 for my 16' Jupiter and its a 1970 model with no interior it had a decent deck in it but I ripped it out to make sure everything underneath was good .

Like my Grandpa used to say "pull the trigger, what you waitin' for".

Seriously, if it's a good fit. Go get it, don't wait. Super Sports are a good find.

Re: found a deal have questions 79ss I/O

I've been talking to the wife about the boat this morning.
Thats the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger.

She is worried about having another project.

I did see a slight crease/groove down the length of the hull. somebody drove over something. Looks like one rivet might have been affected.

The bow cap is missing on it. where can parts like this be found?

Does any one have pictures of the back seat and engine cover they can show me?

I will need to reconstruct the cover and seats.

Only drawback I see is that it is OMC powered.
Been out of business for a long time, some places wont work on em becase they dont know how..
Many delisted parts, no factory support...

Just something to think about for future repairs and up keep.

Here is my home made engine cover and jup seat boxes..gas tank is to the right and the battery under the left box..Just lag bolted the seats to the top of the seat boxes then screwed the lid on..Not professional..but way better than what I had..

OMC engine parts are easy to get(most are the same as Mercruiser-except for belhouing, trim motor and a couple other parts.

the outdrive parts are harder but they are out there.

Mercruiser parts are more plentiful.

And you can swap out the OMC Drive for a Mercruiser Drive or Outboard !!! and sell the OMC stuff

are those just a folding bucket seat? Or were they the jump seats with bases?

Looks like I am picking the boat up on Monday.

Re: found a deal have questions 79ss I/O

If anything I will find an out board and set it up as a kicker motor.

Use it for trolling and for that day the out drive fails.

I know the motor is easy to get most parts for. Heck that basic motor can be found in Jeeps.

It's just the out drive I am concerned about.
I have found a bunch of 400 parts on craigslist and ebay.

I just paid $900 for the one in my sig. It runs good but looks bad and needs the deck replaced.

I like that. Nice and inexpensive.

You did notice the CHEAP in Cheapboatkev right? lol

The seats came off craigslist..My lovely other half Diane got them for me for Christmas last year..40 bucks for both I think..

But heck, you can get em new on sale at times for around 40 a piece..
