...anyone had to replace theirs? Can you do it without having to remove the outdrive and the shaft assy from the housing? I know that you would have to pull the motor.

I am dripping a little oil out of my bilge. It is either coming from the forward driveshaft seal or from the engine rear main seal. I cannot not tell by the residual evidence but last week, I drained my exhaust mani's into the bilge and let it run out onto the driveway.

Yesterday, as I walked by the boat I smelled a familiar but initially unidentifiable smell. It finally donned on me that the smell was distinctly of outdrive fluid. I looked around and saw a oily sheen on the water stream that had come out of the bilge, so I guess it is outdrive fluid. It is definitely coming from out of the bilge, not the outdrive itself.

Thanks boobie, but sometimes it is better to ask for personal experiences before you have to weed through a manual.

I have only replaced the shaft seals at the ball gears in addition to the whole lower/upper
