I have a 1968 65 hp evinrude with a manual shift. My problem is that when I shift into forward the gear does not engage. I have no problem with reverse or nuetral. It feels like it wants to go into forward but only slightly moves and if you release the tension it goes back to nuetral. I tore the lower end apart being told that the clutch dogs teeth were worn. The teeth were worn but not terrible. I flipped the dog around since the reverse teeth were not as worn. I put the gears back in and checked the engagement of the gears by pushing and pulling the shift rod and I have the same problem. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you,
Travis
