found a boat on craigslist list.. it has an old small block v8 ford motor...im assuming this is just a motor out of a car that just needs a small conversion for a boat.. is that a fair assumption? reason i ask is its cheap enough i wanna try my hand at a restore and wanna get an idea of the cost of a replacment motor would be if needed.. thanks!

No, it's not a fair assumption.
Here is a partial list of things that are "Marine" rated.
Cam, Engine gaskets, brass core plugs, distributor, alternator, starter, fuel pump, carburator, fuel lines, exhaust system.

Re: ford v8

well there were boats that came with ford small blocks from the factory. wondering if you worded your question right or not?

does the ad mention that the guy put an auto engine into the boat? happen to mention the brand outdrive or at least show a picture?
