hi guys,

I have 18 ft.cc wellcraft boat with 150 hp outboard. I just bought a 1992 ford bronco with a big 351 plus 4 x 4. This will help keep the strain of towing off of my explorer. My question is will this bronco be adequate and is it a good tow vehicle..thanks

I mean as far as a good tow vehicle, yea it will pull most anything it is essentially an F150 with a short wheelbase.
The short wheelbase is its downfall as it makes it easier for the tow vehicle to be pushed around and possibly jack knifed by a big heavy load.
With that said its gonna tow the crap out of your 18' boat but I would not use overdrive on the E4OD and the truck may or may not nickel and dime you a bit.

got a bronco of the same age as you, it has towed pretty much everything imaginable. Tows very well. Yes its a short wheel base, but it really isn't THAT bad. It makes backing up really easy at least!

I towed my old 23' cuddy cabin I/O with my old Bronco and it worked absolutely fine.

My trailer was equipped with surge brakes which were a great help.

Naturally, brakes on the trailer would be a big benefit but not really necessary. Your potential problems would not be if the Bronco has enough power because it certainly does. The problem(s) would become evident when you have emergengy stopping conditions. I used to pull a two horse trailer with two horses weighing in at over 2200 lbs plus the 1200 lb. trailer with an "old" early 70's model Bronco...it only had a 289 in it but pulled ok. Even though the trailer had brakes, it was the stopping and sharp turns that required anticipation. I sometimes pull my pontoon (2450lbs.), with my jeep...it'll pull it "fairly" well but stopping and wind presents a major problem.
The jeep is rated to pull 2000 lbs. and that's really pushing it. Good Luck!

That bronco is rated up to 8000 pounds depending on engine/gear combo. The same brakes exist on all those models, so it should be sufficient.
