3 months ago I bought a 1990 Four Winns 205 Sundowner with the small block Ford 5.8l (351). Long story short, my gimbal bearing blew out destroying the transom plate and bellows. I found an OMC transom on ebay and was told it would fit my 5.8l. The marina pulled the motor and replaced the transom. Now, the Y exhaust pipe that was on the 5.8l does not match up with the new (used) transom flange. The old Y pipe does not have a part # and I can't find one anywhere because I don't know what size motor the new transom came from. I Found a Y pipe at my local marina that has the flange/bolt pattern that fits the new transom and has a part number on it, but the pipes were cut so that the flappers are gone (so I don't know how tall the Y pipe actually is) and this Y pipe is from a Chevy small block. With the part number, I ordered the pipes in hopes that I can make slight adjustments at the top of the pipes with the rubber couplings when attaching the Y pipe to the risers. The pipes should be to me in the next couple of days. My question is, has anyone had this issue and if so, how was it rectified? My only other option is to cap the exhaust port on the transom and take the exhaust through the hull. I don't really want to do that, but if I need to, I would very much appreciate any help on some kits or experience that anyone may have had with this. Unfortunately I can't junk the thing because I just bought it and would be out $5000.00. Learned the hard way.

Re: Ford 5.8l OMC Transom and exhaust question.

You can modify the hoses and pipes to make the cutoff tubes work?
If the thru hull isin't desired? You can install a muffler in the system.
I don't like the noise either.
It would require a manifold change.
