To all you force experts please help as I know very little. I recently purchased a 1989 Bayliner cuddy cabin with a 1989 Force 85 hp outboard on it. When i bought the boat it ran great. After about the 9th trip out this year the engine started to lose power. It starts fine and idles fine. When I get on open water and give it full throttle it bogs down and only runs about 10mph. After about 20 minutes the motor starts jerking a bit and then picks up speed and the boat planes off and runs in the high 30's for the rest of the day. I have changed the plugs out to new NGK plugs, run carb/fuel stabilizer/cleaner in it and it seems to just get worse and take longer to get up to speed each time I take it out. Could this just be trash in the carburetor or possibly a cylinder not running for some reason? I am going to test the cylinders on Wednesday to see if they are all running. Your help would be greatly appreciatted. Also if it is the carbs how hard is it to rebuild them as everyone around here wants between 500 and 700 dollars to rebuild them.

Keep your money.Anyone who charges $500 to rebuild carbs is a robber.
I'd do it for $350(kidding)
It sounds like you jhave an Ethanol problem. It will destroy old hoses. It melts them and the gunk will clog the carbs and fuel pump.
A new squeezie and hose is needed.Any soft hoses need to be replaced. Check the fuel pump diaphram.Do a compression/spark test.
Any fuel filters need to be replaced/cleaned.Good luck,J

Oh yea fill out the profile so we know were you live.J
