I have a chance to get a 90' bayliner with the force L drive for really cheap. I want it for the windshield glass and trailer, but before I do I was wondering how good the L drive is and if it is expensive to fix. Apperently it has a bad engine by means of one scored cylinder. I hear it is a very rare and very troublesome drive.

If it is not worth fixing, is there also much value in the parts to strip down?

Would like some of your opinions. Thanks.

Check ebay for parts on sale.

I would not want to deal with the L drive and consider you may be sitting on the parts for a year or so.

Run away from it very fast and very far.

FYI, it is $150 with trailer. The guy claims to have the title for both. I want to yank all the glass from the boat, scrap the boat for $70, then paint and sell the trailer and hopefully end up with a spare windshield and profit very slightly on the trailer. Sound like a plan??????

I was just wondering if the engine was worth fixing or parting, but it looks like neither.

sounds like a good plan to me...there are people out there that need parts for the L-Drive...if you have the space to store it , why not...

One pane of the windshield is worth that purchase price.

I will buy some parts from you. For the record I have found most who hate them never owned one. I have one and am new to boating so far so good as a first boat. Its really simple to work on. Its essentially an outboard 120 force. The only weird thing is the transom plate and the parts where it goes though the hull. You cant really get the parts for that section, but if you know a good machinist your all good.

So anyway I need some parts for my 90 and would love to be your first customer. Doesn't happen to have mooring covers does it?

where are you located?

I kind of find the L drive fascinating for some reason. Sounds like a $$ winner for you, so buy it, play with it a bit, and part it out.

yea, you cant go wrong with that price. I would likely buy 150 worth of parts from it.

It does not have the mooring covers, hence why it is $150. Floor is soft but not thru yet, but the vinyl is unusable and baked. Cosmetic parts are junk, engine compartment looks complete. I will see if he "really" has the title in hand an in his name. I find it hard that he would not have a light come on to part it out and sell the trailer.
