Lost spark on #3 only in mid-range speed - wide open fine - idle - fine.

Replaced 3/4 power pack - still lost spark on #3 Replaced 1/2 power pack - and #3 spark came back.

(even using old power pack on 3/4)

How does 1/2 power pack effect #3 spark?

jim

Re: Force Electronics Mystery

Jim,

It is unlikely that the 1&2 box was actually affecting the 3&4 box. I would expect it is the wires from the pickup sensor under the flywheel. They are the trigger for the powermodules. These sensors move with the throttle for timming advance and it is likely the wires leading to the sensors are touching the flywheel at mid throttle.

Re: Force Electronics Mystery

You would think something like that would be happening - but it is not the case. We put on a New Stator - New Trigger assembly, and New Coils, and a New box for 3&4 - AND #3 STILL WOULD DROP OUT AT MID THROTTLE.

BUT when we put a new pack on 1&2 , #3 came back.

AND STAYED BACK - even when we put the old parts back on (with the exception of the 1&2 cd box).

What the Hell?

jim

Isolation diode, when this diode in pack is bad, it will effect the other pack.

Re: Force Electronics Mystery

I take it the diode you are referring to is in the faulty power pack?

If so, by replacing the power pack, teh problem should be fixed - right?

Return path.....sit down with a schematic of the ignition, and trace out the power flow in the stator and trigger...you wil find that return path flows through the other switch box....
