Force 85 trim problem

I just bought a 1985 force 85hp, Motor will trim up no prob, but will not trim down only noise is a faint relay like click, somewhere near the starter. I read a post about breaker switches but I find none.Also I have nice clean tight batt connections. Any help would be great.

Most 1985 85hp did not come with trim and tilt it was a add on kit, if you have the kit you will have two relays under the hood. most mechanics installed these on the port side of the motor. You just have a bad relay and you will need to replace it. to check this swap one relay for the other and your problem should reverse. If you have a stock trim and tilt system for a 1985 you have no relays and the problem will be with the switch or the trim and tilt motor. Follow the wire coming out of the trim and tilt motor and see where it ends up. the new system with relays the motor wires go directly to the relays.
