Don't let slackeribew scare you. While I don't think much of the Chrysler/Force motors lots love them. The main drawback is a dwindling parts supply.
Very likely it is just normal exhaust residue. It will likely smell gassy not like gear lube.
If the gearcase is leaking there will be water in the lube when you drain it.The lube may appear milky like coffee with cream or if really bad just plain water present. You will get better Chrysler Force help in the C/F section.

Howdy rlcasey.

Welcome to iboats. :)

This sure looks like an engine topic to me. They aren't allowed in this forum.

I will move this to the Force Forum. for you.

I don't see a hole under the nut with oil streaks. I do see the two drain holes, one on either side of the middle bolt if these are what you mean. These holes drain a blind cavity in the lower unit and yes, with running exhaust gas and oil will drain from them.

Like many people, (some of whom know nothing about outboards and just wish to spout off, and some whom have had bad experiences) slackerbrew for whatever reason believes that Chrysler and Force engines are junk. Your white Force is indeed simply a rebadged Chrysler engine sold by AMF Brunswick. The reality is that they run just as reliably as the other brands, although they do not run quite as fast.

If you enjoy your boat and engine, don't let his comments influence you.

Thanks a lot gents for the advice. it seems to the consensus that i am either running to rich or it is just run off from it being winterized. and i am not really to worried about the rep of the maker this is my first boat and i am not going to start out with the lambo of motors i will learn on something cheaper
