Hi All

I am in the process of getting my borther inlaw's boat ready to go in the water, and I am all set, except the tilt will not work.

When the boat was put away last fall the tilt worked fine.

When I hit the trim button to go up the pump runs and sounds like usual, but nothing happens. When I tilt down the pump squeels beceause it is at the bottom already, just like it always does.

I have tried this with the motor running as well as off, but no go.

It seems like the pump may be low on oil, but I don't know how to check it, and I can't raise the motor by hand to get a better look.

The motor is a '99 Force 75hp.

If anyone has any ideas I would really apreciate your thoughts.

Thanks
CP

Just throwing in a quick bump.

I hope that someone can give me a hand on this subject, as I really need to get things working properly as soon as possible.

Cheers

Re: Force 75 trim/tilt problem

The 1999 75 hp uses the same tilt unit as the 90hp.

On the starboard side transom mount bracket, there is a hole.
It is about 1/2" in diameter, located about 3" from the bottom.
The hole gives you access to the tilt manual release valve.
Insert a screwdriver and loosen, raise the motor by hand, then tighten the screw.
It should hold the motor up, but be careful.
Best to brace it up to be safe.

Now you can access the fill hole, and perform any service needed.

Re: Force 75 trim/tilt problem

Well, I followed Roscoe's instructions, and when I loosened the screw the motor dropped a couple inches. I tightened it up again, tried the trim switch, and away it went!! I cycled it several times without any trouble!

Maybe there was some air, or some kind of lock in the line from the winter storage, but it works great now.

Thanks again Roscoe!
