Picked up this barn find this week! Has less than 10 hours on it since 1994. It has a force 50 engine thats not running. Any ideas!? Thanks for the help
Nice lookin boat.....if you haven't already done it I would start by putting a new impeller in it and changing the LU lube (check for water contamination). That way if/when you get it running it won't overheat and cause some serious damage. Then check the compression and do a spark test. If it has been sitting up a long time the carb needs cleaning, along with the entire fuel system.
More pics of the ignition components and the lower unit?
Compression, spark, fuel.
That 50 can actually run on 1 cyl.
The year of the motor? The newer models have a lanyard hooked to a kill switch, that hooked up?
Start with checking compression and then for spark.
If the compression is good (130-150 PSI) and close even with the cylinders and you have good strong spark at both cylinders, then clean the carb and check the water impeller pump.
Nice find. As already mentioned you have a lot to go to start with. Since it has been sitting idle for awhile, you might want to spray fogging oil into each cylinder before compression testing. Check the lanyard key make sure it is set properly or it will never run.
