I have a Force 50 that worked perfectly on my other boat. I got a new boat and switched the motor to that one. Now the motor will seems to be getting only 1/4 throttle. The linkages seem to be going to full on, and the butterfly is to full. It ran great, what did I do? The bulb seems more solid than before, when the diaphragm goes out does the bulb seem to do this?

If the diaphram goes it wouldn't let the ball be firm.It would let fuel pass through it.
Is the shifter the same? It sounds like it's hooked up backwards.
Go to the top sticky on this thread.Look for the linc@sinc.J

It shifts correctly just doesn't speed up when we push the throttle down. Does that still sound like the linkages are reversed? I will try it.

Probably not backwards.Un-hook the cables and reset them in neutral.
Does the motor rev up and not pick up speed or just not pick up RPMs?J

Undo the cables and check the travel of the cables. Then check the shifting on the motor. Then re-set the controls/cables.J

Re: Force 50 not the same.

IF you did not touch the engine itself, then it is safe to assume that youdid attach the cables incorrectly. You did not say the different boats and their respective sizes. If the new boat is considerably longer then the cables will be too short. If you ran the control cables with too sharp bends, they will bind.

On the other hand, you say that the throttle butterfly opens fully but the engine just does not accelerate. Mounting position on the transom, props, trim, etc--- ALL are variables that change from hull to hull. Please provide more info on the different hulls. Maybe a couple of photos too!
