Force 50 HP Tilt & Trim

I have a tilt and trim from a 96 50hp Force that is not working and need to replace it. Will a tilt and trim # 0357A61 work? it is different from the number that is on mine and I do not have that number is front of me right now, but it is 8 digits I remember and no letters, all numbers. The person selling it does not know what the year model was, but it was a 40hp.

Are these trim/tilt units interchangeable?

horsepower is set by range. His 40HP system will have gearings and bypass valves suitable for 30-60HP. Any engine within that range will have the exact same internal settings. Examine system to see if it uses same mounting brackets and has compatible wiring. If it fits, then it is right system for your engine.
