I just bought a froce 2400 trolling motor off of ebay. It is a 12 volt motor. Will 10 gauge wire be sufficient to run from the motor to the battery which is 12 feet back in the boat?

John,

I do not know how powerful that motor is, however 12 feet at 10 gauge is on the light side, in my opinion. I would like to see at least eight guage and six would be my choice.

You might as well use every bit of juice available.

Re: Force 2400

Did you get the owners manual with the Force trolling motor?

I have the same one on a used bass boat I just bought and I was wondering what the 3 position toggle switch does that is on the side of the foot peddle?

Edit: Dang just noticed the post date is 4 years old :D

Anyone else know about this switch and it's function? I tried it at the lake and did not notice and difference in operation?

Re: Force 2400

That switch is probably OFF (center), CONT (continuous run) and INT (intermittent). OFF is obviously off. Continuous means the motor runs continuously and you don't need to step on the pedal. Intermittent means you need to step on the pedal to make the motor run. Next question is are you certain this is 12V motor? The model number (2400) would lead one to think its a 24 volt model but it could also mean 24# thrust.

Thanks for replying :)

The trolling motor battery is a single 12V battery.
