During a ski trip I lost power to the engine and discovered that it did get hot. Although the engine cooled down I never have been able to turn it over since. Pulling the plugs the engine turns over freely and has 120 compression on all cyls.
Once I put just 1 plug in, it will not turn over. Checked battery and starter already. Pulled head and found #3 cyl scored but still functional.
Not sure yet to tear into to it or not.

Advise if possible.

Re: Force 125 engine problems

Howdy, Mentos.

I suspect that you have an electrical problem. If there is even a small amount of resistance anywhere in the starter high current circuit the starter motor will lose torque.

Try cleaning and reconnecting all connections in the high current circuit, starting at the battery ground lead to the block and following the circuit to the starter hot lead, solenoid hot lead, back to the battery hot side.

If the starter still does the same thing, get a voltmeter and measure the voltage from the starter hot lead to the block when trying to start. If the voltage is less than about 10.5 volts, check across your solenoid. If that voltage measures more than 1 volt, you have a solenoid problem.

Good luck. :)
