It idles good but at full throttel it goes fast and slow like it isn't getting fuel (i believe). Sometimes it feels like full speed.I took apart the fuel pump and found no holes in the diaphram. It looks stretched though. What else could cause it to do this. It has been layed up for more then a year. Thanks, Poppy

Look for collapsing fuel primer bulb, clogged screen at fuel pump. partially clogged fuel line, partially clogged fuel filter (if equipped with one), Sticking or clogged inlet needle in carburetor, improper float level in carb, varnish or congealed oil in carb passages, Clogged fuel filter inside tank (if so equipped). Clogged tank vent or vent not opened.
Note: six gallon and other portable tanks have a vent in the filler cap and some have a screen on the pick-up inside the tank.
Concentrate on areas before the fuel pump because your problem sounds like the typical lack of fuel related to clogged lines. The pump uses suction to pull fuel from the tank. It can supply enough fuel at idle and the carbs fill up. it will run fine for several seconds at full throttle but the carbs demand more fuel than it can suck at full throttle. As the carbs run low on fuel, it slows down. Back it down to idle, and the fuel pump can again supply enough to fill the carbs.

Oh yeah! I forgot. If you have a male quick connect fitting on the tank, unscrew it and check the hole on the threaded portion. Crap can work its way there and lodge in the spring and behind the check ball. It increases the flow resistance so much that again, at idle the fuel pump can fill the carb bowls but at high speed it can't keep up.
And you will go CRAZY looking for the problem.

Thanks Frank...I will check but I am awaiting a new filter cover that went into the drink. I am installing a pump kit as well since the gasket was damaged when I removed it and it is quite inexpensive.
