So I read online how to time my engine but just want to make sure that this is right...

1. Take off spark plug wires 2-4 and ground them out.... Cant I just unplug them and let them hang?
2 Plus timing light into #1 and set timing at cranking speed to 32 Degrees and 30 degrees running

Is this right am I missing any steps or is there a different degrees?

Pics are for an easy grounding device. This is a 3 wire you need a 4
Not grounding can blow the pack. What year?
Older forces need to be set at 28 to get 30 at wot?
Newer is 30 for 32 .

I believe it is a 94? I know I should know but I cant seem to find the year in the engine anywhere. my boat is a 94 bayliner capri 1800ls... and I my engine says it is the is the Force 120 by Mercury which I heard that mercury actually made the force only in 94 don't know if that's true not

Re: Force 120 timing steps

Yours is a Force with Mercuy parts. The timing is the 30/32
Mercury bought Force in the early 90's.
The started putting Merc parts on in 91/92
They discontinued the Force line in 99
