Okay So I Have An 89 Force 120 L-drive. I Let Some Friends Take It Out Last Year And Ultimatley I Thought They Had Run It Out Of 2 Stroke Oil. Anyway I Have The Head Off And It Is F'ed. The Lower Most Piston Cylinder Has A Gash Through The Inner Wall And And Into The Water Jacket. Is There Any Solution To This Other Than Buying A New Engine!? I Havent Got It Further Apart To Find Out What Cuased It Yet Or See What Else Is Damaged. Ill Try And Get Some Pics Up Tomorrow...

Nope! That's pretty much trash. Cylinder liners can be replaced, but when the damage extends into the water jacket, the integrity of the block is compromised.

Buy a non running 120 outboard and swap everything from your engine into and onto it. The basic block is the same--it's just all the other stuff that makes the L drive different. If possible, use your crank because I have been told that the L drive cranks are balanced differently than the outboard versions.

By the way: If I were on the jury, you would not be convicted of throwing your so called friends overboard and running them over.

Okay sweet, i didn't know the force 120 outboards were the same, do you know what years i can swap from? Also i have a pic of the damage now but it says the file is to big... how do i make it small enough to fit on here? oh and as far as my friends go i would like to do as you said but if my boat ran enough to run them over i guess i wouldn't be on this forum! lol :)
