Force 120 cylinder problem,please help.

Boat has been sitting for a while and started acting up on last use (kept stalling).<br />On trying to start the engine it back fired and could not get it to run,it turns over fine and wants to fire but just cant get it to run<br />On inspection of the plugs I noticed that the top plug was dry.<br />Is this the piston ring or what.<br />Please help.<br />Thankyou.

I'm going to say you have a partially plugged fuel system, and sound like the carbs would be a good place to start. Also check fuel condition, fuel hose and fittings.<br /> http://www.outboardrepairs.com/carburetors/ <br />I can't help but wonder if "maybe" you might have a reed pedal bent or something, as well.<br />When you say backfire, do you mean back through the carbs?

Its backfiring through the exhaust,there is fuel,there is spark.<br />Top plug is dry bottom three are fine.
