Force 120 - 1993yr Bogs Down @ WOT and then idles rough

Have read several of the post regarding Force problems at WOT or high RPM. Some say clean fuel system. Some point to electronic power packs.<br />My symptoms.<br />1. Idle greats and accelerates to plane smoothly and will run at 3/4 speed.<br />2. Accelerate to WOT and engine bogs down and will only run at ROUGH idle for remainder of day.<br />3. Fuel line bulb is rock hard. Disconnet and bulb will pump plenty of gas.<br />4. Let boat sit overnight and it starts and runs great until you push to WOT. Need to try WOT immediately after starting boat to see if it could be heat related problems with the electronics. Any suggestions ?

I suspect maybe carbs or fuel pump. I would try to determine if it was still firing on all cylinders while the symptoms are showing up and if it is only affecting certain cylinders. Good luck

Check the wires coming off the stator. Make sure they all have a good connection.

Hi Tridge,<br /> May be some type of fuel restriction at WOT.Check to see if the primer bulb goes flat when this happens.You may have a partial restriction in the gas tank air vent if this occurs.Check or replace fuel filter...When wide open,there may be debris sucked into the hose causing blockage.As the motor sits and loses prime overnight,the fuel reverses slighty,pulling the debris back out.?Is there water in the gas?<br />May also be debris in carb/jets.Sounds like a carb(s) problem.I would remove the carbs,take apart,and clean out one at a time first.Post back. <br />Highly recommend a Racor fuel/water filter to prevent future problems.

Hi, had a similar problem with my 1990 L-drive 120hp...turned out the exhaust ballast hose had disintegrated on the inside so at idle or in the driveway it ran great but put it the water and it quit running at 3000 rpm's..the shop told me the debri was cloggong the exhaust port. Cleaned it out replaced the hose and no problem..<br />good luck<br /> Ron

^ I'm having exact same problem as stated in this post - 95 Force 120...<br /><br />What did the problem turn out to be?
