Sad news...

Unconfirmed...

Looks like 2010 may be the last year of the Islander...

Re: For those who love the Islander...

:eek::(

Well I guess it's time to start a Michigan-based aluminum boat manufacturer and pick up where they left off. I hear there are some empty factories around that could be re-tooled.

Maybe call it Michicraft? Oh wait that's already taken.

I'm open to ideas.;)

Either way it'd be a horrible business decision. Maybe not selling so many since iboats has everybody restoring older ones rather than buy new?

Well, a fella told me this. I'll leave him out as I have no idea if it's true or not or if he should have said that. Purely a rumor I suppose unless/until Starcraft says it, eh!

I say so what, big deal. It won't affect us for hmm.... about 30 years or so.

We deal in old boats, the newer ones here are from the eighties. Mines 40 years old, that's why I bought it. So in 2040, I'll be bumming that I can't get an old Islander to restore.:p More than likely I'll be bumming that they won't let me drive the truck or the boat anymore, and that I have no teeth.

Seriously if they axe the Islander they have to replace it with something comparable. That is too good a fishing machine to just dump her.

A moment of silence for Pontiac (Trans Am), and the Islander. What has this world come to.:confused:

Don't forget Oldsmobile:D

They used to make them here in Lansing and were the oldest car brand in the world until GM axed the whole line.

I do agree with you Don as far as the impact...the older boats are soooo much more appealing to restore anyhow:)

Agreed, I really like the new ones for inspiration though!

I talked to the factory the other day looking for windshield parts and seat cushons. The man said they have nothing in stock for islanders, the ran the parts out within the last two months, I didn't ask what they were replacing it with.
