By 1979 they had changed enough stuff that it won't work. The 18hp can use a unit from any 18-25 from about 1955 (15hp) to 1974 (or so). Lots of internal changes and even a housing change in the late 1960s, but the bolt pattern, driveshaft splines and waterpump location are all the same...<br />- Scott
