Hi guys,
I've got a perfectly good 1994 Johnson 150 2-stroke. I want to raise the transom on my 19'CC boat to fit a 25" shaft for the future. I'm in the process of installing a new floor and fuel tank, etc. and want to raise the transom during this retrofit process. I hear 20" shafts can be extended with "kits" of some sort. Where would I look??

Thanks,

Sweet,
Ofcourse I can't tell my wife I found this info out. She has already approved the purchase of a 25 inch new something. That is my other headache. Which model to buy. Etec sounds OK. I'm a two stroke fan of sorts. Cost and delivery is a problem.
Thanks again for the link and I welcome other links to help shop.
BTW, do these extensions have any hidden problems associated?

Thanks again,

Re: FOOT/DRIVE SHAFT EXTENSION

Hey Cheif,

Has anyone used the shaft extensions on a 150HP before? What is the consensus on whether it works like designed or creates other problems (too much extra leverage for the short shaft mounting bracket), or any other inherit problems?????

Thanks to all,
94Blue

I havn't heard of any problems, as I am sure they sell the extension kit for your engine it should work. If you are uncomfy using a 2 piect shaft it shouldn't be a big problem to find a good salvaged drive shaft to use for not very much. Chief

Re: FOOT/DRIVE SHAFT EXTENSION

Hey thanks,

They do make the kit for about $600. The two piece shaft isn't too scary. I do have to ream out the hole that that existing shaft pases through to allow for the wider end of the 5" extension that will sit on top of the exsiting shaft. Just wondered if all the extensions had any know pitfalls in the future of the balance of the shaft, etc.

94Blue
