foot controller sticking

I have a MinnKota AutoPilot trolling motor that keep sticking to the right, & steering that way. I have replaced the battery. Any ideas why this is happening? Should I replace the footpad?

P.S. the foot switch itself is not sticking, the whole unit is, & to stop it I must do so by hand...

Does it physically stick to the right no matter if it's on auto pilot or if your using the foot pad? What do you do to get it to move to the left?

It sticks when it's not on auto-pilot. The auto-pilot works fine....I have to steer it by hand to get it to move to the right. This doesn't happen all the time, just occasionally, regardless of the charge on the battery.
