So I thought I'd post about what I finally bought. I needed a truck that could occasionally tow up to a max of 8K lbs of boat and trailer. I also stated in the earlier thread that I didn't want a diesel or a Dodge. Well... I didn't buy a diesel
2003 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT- 41,800 one-owner miles on it (verified by Carfax). The truck was originally purchased from and maintained at a local Dodge dealership and Carfax showed all the maintenance. Owner had it in every 3K miles. It's immaculate. Everyone who sees it thinks it's an '07 or '08
Tow capacity = 8750 lbs
GCWR = 15000 lbs.
5.7 Hemi automatic / 4x4
Factory tow package
4 door cab
Gunmetal gray metallic
Short bed w/color-matched Leer cap
Running boards.
Nicely loaded - the SLT package includes pretty much power everything
I haven't tried towing with it yet. I've got about 250 miles on it so far and I'm checking gas mileage... but only because I'm a masochist at heart
