Hello GuYS!

Just thinking into a new project regarding my trailer. Need to garage the boat sometimes but have to install a folding tongue. Where is the best point to install it, I mean please see the picture and let me know If I can go as far as "Cut 1" position. Could this weak the trailer tongue in any way?

Thanks

Cut 2 would be the place to do it.

If there was a boat on the trailer there is no way you could fold it at Cut 1.

Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of those 2 ratchet straps that you have wrapped around the boat? And it appears that your boat is not loaded properly - the bow does not appear to be in contact with the bow roller.

ratchet straps are for hold down the boat in trailer "like one piece" when trailering. Thanks for your fast reply.

No need to do that if the boat is loaded properly. Make sure that it is pulled all the way forward to the bow roller and you should have 2 transom straps that attach to eyes in the back of the boat to the trailer.

The ratchet straps are likely to cause damage to the boat from flapping.

You simply cannot cut the tongue at the #1 spot. Think about it -- where would you put the tongue jack? Next, you could not swing the tongue because the boat (if it was properly loaded) would be against the bow stop and it must swing as well. You don't have much choice since the hinge point must be ahead of the tongue jack. I suppose you could use a standard floor jack and a jack stand to support the bow once the boat is tucked into its storage space but that's a real pain in the back side.

Thanks guys. just want to be sure I I can go that far. Also my boat is properly loaded, the ratchet is for safety since I dont trust on the transom straps.

With a gap between the bow stop and bow I would suggest is isn't quite properly loaded. Also can't tell if the winch strap is over or under the bow stop but then this is all about swing tongue setup so its of no consequence.

The strap is under the bow, also I release the strap when in boat park just for "release stress".

I don't see a safety chain on the bow either. If I had a nice boat like that,I'd take those ratchet straps off right now. The boat is designed to be held down at 3 points, not strapped on like a dead fish.

You`re right its a nice boat and looks like a dead fish with those straps :D:D:D. But for sure it has its safety chain on the bow.

Its a good idea to go from 32 inches tongue to a 21''? Im just thinking on maintaing the original trailer tongue instead the one that comes with the kit. Maybe it could be too short :confused:

I'd stay longer. Not that it would make a huge difference, but a little extra clearance back there for loading/unloading is always welcome.

I'd stay longer as well. Too short and the front of the boat can tag the tailgate on a sharp turn

not to mention if you shorten it you may not be able to open the back of your vehicle.

Re: Folding Tounge Installation advice needed

You`re right guys!, I will leave over 11 inches in fron of the bow stand and cut there, so If I use the tongue included in the kit it will match the actually 34''. This one is already drilled, also still with the option of use the original tongue anyway will post pictures of the process to share with all of you.:)

Well Guys here are a few pics regarding Folding Tongue Installation, this is the begining so I will post more pictures today. I will keep the original tongue in order to maintain the 32''.

Man, I love that garage floor. How is it on keeping grease etc, out of the grout?

WOW! I want a floor like that too for my garage and driveway, but I don't think it would hold up over winter.:(

Wow if I had a garage floor like that I don't think I could park anything on it.
