Is there any reason why I cannot add a folding tongue kit to my trailer that has hydraulic surge brakes? I assume I could use a rubber flex hose to connect the lines on either side of the hinge and it should work fine.

Anyone out there done it? Or seen a factory setup?

Yes you can add a swing tongue. You cannot, however, use regular hose for the joint. It must be flexible brake line hose just like those at each wheel on your car. Regular hose would burst at the first stop.

I would even consider springing for some steel braided brake line. A little extra protection, no to mention it won't buldge, although I don't think the pressure gets anywhere high enough for this to happen on a sirge system.

Y Regular hose would burst at the first stop.

im sorry for not being clear in the first post.
the pic bellow shows a a quik disconnect. you will need one like this so your tongue will have the max travel.
click here for part # for this hose and coupler.
