Folding Helm Chair

Both of my captains chairs need either reuphostered or replaced. I'm getting some pretty high estimates on both. This is an older boat that i'm not going to invest a lot in.

has anyone just used one of those nice folding helm chairs from cabelas or equivelent. That are sold for around 70 dollars?

As long as they are rated ABYC Class AD, they are fine for the helm position.

Helm seating must lock in place, which is usually the pedestal and seat mount that locks.

My butt has never been comfortable after 2 hours in those seats.
THe $150-200 seats have better support and are comfortable most of the day.

So, if you are going to be sitting for hours.......

Some thing like these may be a bit better. I went with that style in my rebuild last year and it sits very nice all day long and is holding up very well.
