Having no luck locating a dealer for foldable aluminum boats. I live near Rochester, NY my only find was in Australia.
Had many boats over the years. Older now and don't want to deal with towing, storing etc. I'm hoping for some luck with this forum.

Thanks

Google Porta-Bote. I think they are still in business.

It might be good for a very small lake, but I personally wouldn't want to power it in waves.

I only recall ever seeing one in operation, and that was 30 or more years ago. Kinda scary to me....LOL.

Seen a folding jon boat at a sport show back in the 90's. But it folded in half and still needed a trailer.

Seen instaboat on the internet, looks like a nightmare to assemble and is very very shallow. Then you need someplace 12' long to haul it where it won't get bent.

Dad actually had a porta boat. Only used it a few times.

Uncle had one too. But his was a 14'er.
Fished with 3 adults in it. Very stable, but the flexible floor took a little getting used to.
Tough as nails. He used to drag it behind his atv, miles, over the rocky logging roads of Canada, where he would spend the entire summer.
The thing was all scratched up, but never leaked or needed repair.
Used a '78 or '79 Evinrude 4 hp on it.

Came around an island once with my uncle and me in the boat.
Hit what was only 10-12" waves.
Trust me, thats the biggest waves you want to be in.

The problem is hauling it.
You still need someplace to strap it on a vehicle, that won't block the doors. Didn't work even with a full sized van.
If you can physically get it on the roof of your vehicle, one of the kayak racks would work. Or lay it flat on the vehicle roof.

They make a rack that mounts to the side of a camper or motorhome. My uncle tried that, but it would block the door on the curb side. And it would block the furnace exhaust on the road side.
