Re: Fogging a fuel injected motor

Fogging any EFI does not cause problems with any sensors. However it can mess up the injectors in an MPI setup. With a TBI system, you can just fog like a carbed engine. With an MPI engine you don't want to squirt or spary fogging oil into the throttle plate. Merc and Volvo, you use a similar mixture of Gas, Fogging oil (or 2 stroke oil) mixed appropimatly 50-1 and fuel stabilizer (per lable).
Mix up a gallon or two in an outboard tank, hook it to your engine fuel filter and run the engine.
This won't smoke like a carbed engine, but it also doesn't plug or damage the fuel injectors. When you are done, dump the excess fogging mixture into the boats fuel tank, it won't cause any problems at all.

Thanks again Don, its a old throttle body injection system. I really dont understand why there is any difference, but what the hell so stated.

This engine has vortec heads on it so is the stated hp really 210 with efi, i cant see why mpi would really make that much diff in horsepower.......econ maybe but hp??????

Re: Fogging a fuel injected motor

With throttle body injection, there are only 2 injectors and they are ABOVE the throttle body where you squirt the fogging oil in. So the injectors never get Fog oil on them. With the MPI, the injector nozzle tips are in the intake port of the head and would be covered with fogging oil. Which they really don't like over long term storage and winterization.
