Want to use back mounted starter need 14 inch 168 tooth with ring on front flywheel.
Does any one know where I can get one or what has to be done to existing one.

Thanks

Re: flywheel

Flywheels are the same. Due to the ridge that the ring gear rides against, it can only go one way.

Re: flywheel

depend on the brand of engine and who made the flywheel cover.

If your starter was on the front side the flywheel could be too small. On some of the oddball stuff the same flywheel was used. On most setups you did need a larger flywheel and the gear had to be on the back of it. What are you working on? what block/ what cover?

Re: flywheel

Chevy 350 engine , it has 14 inch plate 168 tooth not cut down on opposite side to fit ring gear.
GM bellhousing for velvet drive 71c. It starts and runs ok. Starter is exstremly hard to get to stringer is in the way.
I have to partially pull motor to change stater.
The Gm bellhousing has opening for back mount in top right hand area.
