flywheel nut specs 1998 johnson 115

I want to fabricate a lift eye for the powerhead on a 1998 johnson 115. My plan is to weld a u bolt to a flywheel nut. Does this sound feasible?<br />Does anyone know the specs of the flywheel nut I would like to buy a stanless nut and save the original for when I re install the flywheel. Thanks.

Don't all large motors have a factory lift eye right to the rear of the flywheel? <br /><br />I wouldn't do as you suggest. I would get a factory lift and install it where it belongs. Alot less trouble, you could even make your own loop, but I would put it where it belongs.
