Flywheel magnets

While removing the flywheel from my Merc 150 Offshore, some of the alternator magnets were damaged.

Has anyone ran into this problem, and if you have what are my options (dealer is looking for $400 + for a new flywheel) OUCH!

merc doesnt offer the magnents seperatly unfortuntely. if yours are damaged then re-epoxying them is not an option. you may look around,search the iboats site, for a decent used one for about 1/2 the price.

Chipped corners on a magnet isn't a problem. If a magnet is broken, it won't work properly no matter what. ( makes more and different poles.)

Check out eBay for a used flywheel.

There are many salvage outfits. Flywheels don't normally get damaged, so they can be had reasonable.
